Empire Stove Wood Stoves and Inserts

Empire Stove is the wood-burning line of Empire Comfort Systems, Inc. of Belleville, Illinois. The Gateway series covers freestanding stoves in three sizes, and the Archway series brings the same firebox design to a fireplace insert with the blower included. Every model meets the EPA 2020 emissions standard, uses non-catalytic secondary combustion, and is made in North America.

Gateway Wood Stoves

Three Gateway sizes heat anywhere from 500 to 2,700 square feet. Each stove is finished in metallic black and completed with your choice of a black or nickel door overlay and a pedestal, straight legs, or Queen Anne legs, so the same stove can look traditional or contemporary.

Model	Heating Area	Maximum Heat Output	Firebox	Burn Time	Maximum Log
Gateway 1700 (WB17FS)	500 – 1,800 ft²	65,000 BTU/h	1.86 ft³	Up to 7 h	18"
Gateway 2300 (WB23FS)	500 – 2,100 ft²	75,000 BTU/h	2.4 ft³	Up to 8 h	20"
Gateway 3500 (WB35FS)	1,000 – 2,700 ft²	110,000 BTU/h	3.5 ft³	Up to 10 h	22"

Gateway stoves are approved for alcove installation and for mobile homes with the fresh air intake kit (the Gateway 3500 in its pedestal version). An optional variable speed blower and quick connect thermodisc add automatic forced-air circulation.

Archway Wood Inserts

The Archway 1700 and 2300 fit an existing masonry fireplace and ship with the blower included. Each insert is completed with a black or nickel door overlay and a 29" x 44" or 32" x 50" surround, with a trimmable 32" x 50" surround available for the Archway 2300.

Model	Heating Area	Maximum Heat Output	Firebox	Burn Time	Maximum Log
Archway 1700 (WB17IN)	500 – 1,800 ft²	65,000 BTU/h	1.9 ft³	Up to 6 h	18"

Complete Your Stove or Insert

Empire Stove appliances are sold as the stove or insert body, so you choose how to finish them. Every Gateway stove requires one door overlay and one base (pedestal or leg kit, each with the ash pan), and every Archway insert requires one door overlay and one surround. Optional accessories include step top add-ons, the variable speed blower and thermodisc for Gateway stoves, fire screens, and fresh air intake kits for mobile home installations. All components are listed on each product page by part number and sold separately in this collection.

Which Empire Stove Is Right for Your Home?

Start with the manufacturer’s recommended heating area, then consider log length and burn time. The Gateway 1700 and Archway 1700 suit small to medium rooms and take 18" logs; the Gateway 2300 and Archway 2300 step up to larger rooms and 20" logs; the Gateway 3500 is built for spacious homes with a 3.5 ft³ firebox, 22" logs, and up to 10 hours of burn time. Recommended heating area and burn time vary with location in the home, chimney draft, heat loss, climate, and fuel.

Empire Limited Lifetime Warranty

Every Empire Stove appliance carries the Empire Limited Lifetime Warranty: lifetime parts coverage on the combustion chamber welds, cast iron door frame, ceramic glass, and plating; seven years on surrounds, heat shields, ash drawer, legs, pedestal, baffles, and secondary air tubes; five years on the handle assembly, glass retainers, and air control; and two years on blowers and electronics. Full terms are in the Warranty tab on each product page.
