The Englander Grizzly is a recreational camp stove with a 2.7 ft³ hexagonal firebox, 22" logs, welded 12-gauge steel, an included pipe collar, and a 75 lb (34 kg) shipping weight.

Outdoor recreational use only: The Grizzly is intended for cooking and temporary-shelter heating during activities such as camping, hunting, and ice fishing. It must not be used for residential heating, in a permanent structure, or in a mobile home.

Product Features

Stove-Ready Shelters Only

The stove must not be connected to a hot-air-distribution system. It may be used only in tents specifically designed for stove use, such as a canvas wall tent equipped with a suitable stove jack; it must not be used in nylon tents or tents not designed for a stove, and stove pipe must not pass directly through tent fabric. A suitable stove jack is required in both the tent and the rain fly when applicable, a window must remain cracked or a door partly open to supply combustion air, and the stove must never be placed directly on a tent floor or another combustible surface. Installation must follow the current manual, certification label, pipe instructions, and applicable requirements.

The manufacturer describes the Grizzly for use in properly equipped wall tents up to 16' x 24'. This is a manufacturer application reference rather than a guaranteed heating-capacity rating; tent construction, weather, air supply, chimney layout, clearances, and the complete manual govern actual suitability.

Base-Stove Components

The Grizzly supplies or incorporates an attachable pipe collar (included per the exact product-page description), four removable legs, spring handles for the door latch and circular damper, a circular door damper, and a high-temperature fiberglass door gasket.

Included and Integral Components

Component Details
Attachable pipe collar Included per the exact product-page description
Removable legs 4, stored inside the stove body
Spring handles For the door latch and circular damper
Circular door damper Integral appliance component
High-temperature fiberglass door gasket Integral appliance component

Stove pipe, a shelf, a stove jack, a spark arrestor, a rain cap, a draft damper, a magnetic thermometer, a firebrick kit, a BottomSaver insert, hearth protection, and installation labor are not included with the base stove. 2-foot 4" pipe sections, an attachable shelf, a firebrick kit, and a BottomSaver insert are documented manufacturer accessories, sold separately, and no accessory establishes a complete chimney or a compliant layout for every tent or installation.

Heating and Cooking Operation

Hot Cooking Surface

The manufacturer states that the stove top may reach approximately 800°F. Use pans for cooking, treat the entire appliance and controls as hot, and follow the manual’s supervision and burn-safety requirements.

The offset 4" outlet provides additional top cooking area. Food should be cooked in a pan and must not be placed directly on the painted stove top; the manual suggests a removable, washable stainless-steel surface if direct-above-top cooking is necessary. Cooking does not eliminate ventilation, floor-protection, clearance, chimney, supervision, or combustion-air requirements.

Fuel and Operation

Burn dry wood only. Do not burn trash or other combustible materials, and never use gasoline, kerosene, lighter fluid, engine oil, or similar liquids. Operate with the loading door closed and tightly latched except during attended startup or loading as directed, keep the wood load within the manual’s six-inch loading-height guidance, and note that the stove is not designed for continuous burning. Wood combustion consumes ambient oxygen, so an outside-air source such as a cracked window or partly open door is required whenever the stove operates; no outside-air kit is included.

Chimney, Stove-Jack, and Combustion-Air Requirements

The stove uses 4" stove pipe, which is not included; an attachable pipe collar is included per the exact product-page description, and compatible 2-foot 4" pipe sections are available separately. Pipe sections must be assembled male-end downward, each connection must be secured as instructed by the manual, horizontal sections must slope at least 1/4" per foot toward the stove, and the pipe should extend at least six inches above the tent ridge. Pipe and stove-jack requirements must follow their manufacturers’ instructions. The standard connector clearance is generally 18" unless the pipe manufacturer or applicable requirements specify otherwise, and insulated pipe or an approved thermal shield may be required when the standard clearance cannot be maintained. A barometric draft stabilizer is prohibited; a draft damper near the stove is recommended but not included; a spark arrestor and rain cap are recommended but not included, and the spark arrestor must be inspected and cleaned regularly.

Clearances to Combustible Materials

The certification label and current manufacturer manual govern installation. Pipe-manufacturer clearances may require additional separation.
