A Compact EPA-Certified Wood Stove on Pedestal for Small Spaces

The most compact unit in the Escape series, the Drolet Escape 1200 heats 250–1,200 ft² with up to 45,000 BTU/h, combining EPA 2020 certified combustion with a deep ash-collecting firebox on a pedestal base.

Key Features

  • Recommended heating area of 250–1,200 ft² with up to 45,000 BTU/h maximum heat output
  • EPA 2020 certified non-catalytic combustion at 1.8 g/h particulate emissions
  • 1.8 ft³ overall firebox accepting logs up to 17" with up to 5 hours of burn time
  • Deeper firebox bottom allows greater ash accumulation between cleanings
  • Glass airwash system for a cleaner view of the flames
  • Certified for mobile home (with fresh air intake) and alcove installation
  • Included pedestal, cast iron door with adjustable hinges, air deflector, ash lip, and stainless steel heat shield

Product Features

Compact Zone Heating Performance

Designed for spaces from 250 to 1,200 ft², the Escape 1200 delivers a maximum heat output of 45,000 BTU/h from a small footprint, making it well suited to smaller homes and living spaces.

EPA 2020 Certified Clean Combustion

This non-catalytic stove is EPA 2020 approved with an average particulate emission rate of 1.8 g/h, supported by a stainless steel secondary-air system for more complete combustion.

Deep Firebox with Extended Ash Capacity

The bottom of the combustion chamber is deeper than other models in its category, allowing a greater accumulation of ashes so the firebox can be emptied less frequently.

Glass Airwash System

An integrated airwash system sweeps the ceramic glass in the single cast iron framed door, helping keep the fire view clearer through repeated burns.

Simple, Reliable Pedestal Design

A simple model built to be reliable and robust, the Escape 1200 sits on an included pedestal and is certified for alcove installation and for mobile homes when equipped with a fresh air intake, installed per the owner's manual.

Durable Steel Construction

The body is built from 3/16" steel with a 1/4" steel top, a refractory brick-lined firebox, a high quality vermiculite baffle, and a stainless steel heat shield, backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Manufacturer Notes

  • Recommended heating area and maximum burn time may vary with location in the home, chimney draft, heat loss factors, climate, fuel type, and other variables.
  • Maximum heat output (dry cordwood) is based on a loading density of 15–20 lb/ft³; other performance figures are based on the standard test fuel load of 7–12 lb/ft³ at 19–25% moisture content.
  • Efficiency values are measured per the CSA B415.1-10 stack loss method; optimum heat transfer efficiency reflects the low burn rate (HHV).
  • Any installation must be done according to the data and drawings detailed in the owner’s manual.
