The Empire Stove Gateway 1700 is designed for small to medium homes or rooms, heating 500–1,800 ft² with up to 65,000 BTU/h from a 1.86 ft³ firebox, with a one-lever air control, a no-mess ash pan, and an air wash system for easy operation and maintenance.
Rated to heat 500 to 1,800 ft², the Gateway 1700 provides up to 65,000 BTU/h of maximum heat output from its 1.86 ft³ firebox and burns for up to 7 hours on a load of 18" logs, subject to installation and operating conditions.
This non-catalytic stove meets the EPA 2020 standard with an average particulate emission rate of 2.4 g/h and includes secondary combustion as a standard feature.
A single easy-to-use lever adjusts the burn rate, taking the fire from a roaring blaze to a slow burn without additional controls.
The easy-to-remove ash pan with cover keeps dirt and debris contained for mess-free disposal. The ash pan is supplied with the required pedestal or leg kit.
Hot air circulates across the 15 5/8" x 9 3/8" ceramic glass to keep dirt and debris from building up, maintaining a clear view of the fire through the single cast iron framed door.
The 5/16" thick steel top is designed for extended heat radiation and lasting durability. High-density firebricks line the firebox for insulation, and a high heat ceramic baffle is built to perform at high temperatures.
The Gateway 1700 is finished in metallic black and completed with your choice of a black or nickel door overlay and a pedestal, straight leg set, or Queen Anne leg set in black or nickel, with an optional step top add-on.
The Gateway 1700 is approved for alcove installation and for mobile homes when installed with the fresh air intake kit, according to the installation manual. An optional variable speed blower of up to 100 CFM can be added, with an optional quick connect thermodisc for automatic blower operation.
Per the Empire Stove 2026 price sheet, the Gateway 1700 requires a door overlay and a pedestal or leg set, which are sold separately. One door overlay and one base must be selected to complete the stove.
